Sunday before last Pastor was talking about coming home and taking off your shoes after a long day and relaxing. It was part of an illustration… not sure I remember the point, really. But Ethan-5yr? Never got the point either, apparently.
Currently he is on the couch in a pair of shorts and a pair of socks and nothing else. It’s 45 degrees outside and he’s burrowed under blankets since the house is cold. I tried to talk him into a shirt and he insisted that, "THIS is what Pastor does. He takes off his shirt and shoes and puts on shorts and relaxes. It’s important, Mom."
I don’t remember the ‘taking off the shirt’ detail, or the ‘putting on shorts’ bit either, but perhaps I wasn’t listening as closely as my (now) half naked, shivering child anyway. That’s possible.

That’s an unspoken given fact among males. Instictual I presume. That’s why they make those signs that say “No shoes, No Shirts, No business!”
(THANK GOD!!)

How cute is that! Don’t they take everything so seriously at this age? I love the way they think!
5:19 pm
So do you think he’d remember if the pastor preached on taking out the garbage???
Signed,

Funny child. Put some clothes on him– it’s makin’ me cold just to read about him!

Oh, that is entirely too funny!

You think maybe we could circulate a petition to give to our respective pastors concerning potential sermons?
For instance……Pastor (fill in name) absolutely LOVES to clean up his room, raise the toilet seat – then lower it when done, replace the empty roll with a new one on the tp dispenser, bathe regularly, eat a balanced diet…..The possibilities are endless.
(Ladies, ever notice how many of our complaints about our little men–and grown men–originate with the bath room??)

Okay this kid is too smart for me.
6:20 pm
Too funny!
6:47 pm
Cutie!
7:11 pm
He is just too much! Well, at least you know he’s listening!
10:24 pm
After reading your comment on my blog regarding your five year old, I had to read your story. How funny! A great story. That one brought a smile.

Why do they always like to be naked? I don’t get it. My little guy ran around in the snow today, came back in the house, got undressed and then ran around for two hours in just a diaper. He’d cry whenever I came near him with clothes.

Hey, the five year olds at my church hardly listen, so you’re doing something right! At least he has the sense to get a blanket to cover up! I do believe this is a male thing because my brother comes home, puts on a pair of shorts, takes of his shirt and shoes and if its cold he pulls out a blanket. I want to say, “Hello, if you put your clothes back on you’d be warm!!”

I just love it how kids actually take things so litteraly (sp?) and then tell you, in the most serious way … “It’s important, Mom.”
So cute!

So cute! Thank you for sharing this. It reminded me of something a lady at our church shared with me. I teach the kids on a very regular basis and apparently I had become part of the dramatic play at this ladies house with her 2 and 3 year old girls. They would announce, let’s play “sister Tina” and then would proceed to fold their hands as if in prayer and hold their hands up to their chins. … I wasn’t even aware I did this. But then during praise worship that morning I caught myself doing it and it was too funny!!!
They listen and watch when we aren’t even aware!*grins*

The fact that you can even get a 5 year old to sit still listen and retain a message at church is amazing! Toooooo cute. Your son is a genius, I say follow his lead. LOL
