How to Lose 8 Pounds and Not Have Your CLothes Fit Any Differently:
lose only from your earlobes,
your head and face
your ankles and wrists (no they weren’t fat before)
your elbows?
Ummm. Ok. I have no idea how to lose 8 pounds and seemingly not be any smaller. I mean, 2 or 3 pounds I can understand. But EIGHT? That’s like, 32 Quarter Pounders, right? Or something like that? How can I lose eight whole pounds and there not be a change in clothing size, or the way they even fit? That’s craziness. Maybe my scale is just playing a horrible trick on me and I haven’t lost any weight at all.
Maybe it’s all disappeared from my head and I actually look like a Pinhead Person, and no one has known how to tell me.
Maybe it’s all going to show up missing at once, and I’ll wake up tomorrow morning and bound to the bathroom, like I’m a space-walking astronaut getting used to my new, lower gravitational pull.
Maybe I really should have measured and kept track of inches lost (if any), but I didn’t. Gah.

Are you exercising? Maybe you’ve replaced fat with muscle so that nothing is actually noticeable yet, but you’re healthier. Maybe?

April’s got a good point. And I was going to say that I know from experience in gaining weight that sometimes it takes 10-15 pounds to change your clothing size. You’re doing great, though! That’s progress!

I know what you mean! I got really sick last December and could hardly eat all month. I ended up losing 12 pounds, but do you think my clothes got the message? Nope! Everything fit the same. Rrrrrghhhh.
On the other hand, my husband can blink his eyes, lose 3 pounds, and start complaining about his pants falling down.
It’s just not fair I tell ya.

Sweetie, don’t be discouraged! You’re losing weight over your whole body, not just where it makes a difference with your clothes. (Believe me, I’d love it if weight would just come off my tummy and bootah!) Hang in there–8 pounds is great! I bet you’ll be hunting for a belt before you know it.
8:16 am
Aww…it’ll get there! I know it’s frustrating in the meantime!
8:28 am
Hey don’t give up on that sparks diet now! I just got on a roll and you are my inspiration!
Good luck and thanks for showing me this diet. I really like it!
No, seriously? I think this is a diet that is a healthy one where you lose it slow but it stays off! I read on there that the best way to lose your fat areas is to do the cardiovascular. I thought the sit-ups would make my tummy smaller but turns out I gotta do more stinkin’ jogging! If you get discouraged, just think of me running and running as I cry and whine the whole way about not having any more chocolate in the house! What was I thinking?????

I hear you on the invisible weight loss. I recently lost five pounds, and my shorts are - get this - tighter than they were before. Bummer.
10:17 am
Don’t give up! It will start to show!
3:09 pm
The body is a crazy thing - don’t let it get to you (I know, easier said than done).
You’re doing awesome - keep it up!
11:37 pm
I am so with you … I keep thinking that *this* will fit in 5 more pounds .. and I keep losing that 5 more pounds but *this* still doesn’t fit. What is up with that??
2:06 am
I’m with ya HM - I’ve lost 8.5 (and yes I’m counting the halves) my pants are a little loose around the waist but still haven’t lost a “dress size”.
From what I understand it is water weight that you lose/fluctuate in the first two months until your body is adjusted to the exercise and the amount of water you’re taking in. It actually is suggested that you not weight yourself until the two months is up (because your weight will fluctuate so much), but come on, are you kidding me I need that “yea, I lost another pound”. But, keep at it before you know it you’ll be putting on a smaller size before you know it!

Welcome to that age where exercise and diet are like pushing a boulder up the mountain of your changing metabolism.
Just kidding. Just something to make ME feel better.
I signed on with Sparks because you said to — that’s a lot of e-mail! lol. I don’t have time to be skinny. lol again.
3:24 pm
Eight pounds–congratulations!! That’s really an accomplishment!
Hang in there and the rest, too, will come!
5:13 pm
Kelsey,
I’ve been exercising for the past 3 mos and I am bigger than before I started! So NOT fair! There’s got to be something to explain all this.
But don’t warn me against the cookie dough. I’ll suddenly go deaf I think. LA LA LA LA…
