Sparkpeople.com totally works for me. I LOVE IT.
It’s free. It’s a website. It helps you with fitness and nutrition goals, and it KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED. Really.
I’ve been doing it for 3 weeks and have lost 4.5 pounds. Yea! What’s more is that I’m learning so much about nutrition - stuff that never ever made sense to me before. Now I kinda know what a trans fat thing is or a complex vs. simple carb. And… I care!
Have you heard that if you eat well, you just feel better? I never ever believed that before. I thought it was a bunch of crap, sold to us by the people who make tofu or something. But!? It’s true. I just never knew it before because I made poor food choices. (Yes, that’s what we say at Sparkpeople. "Poor food choices.")
If you want to join me, tell them Holymama sent you. I’ll get Sparkpoints (HUGE THRILL, YOU DON’T EVEN UNDERSTAND) and you’ll get fit. WIn-win!
You also get to spin this cool wheel once a day for Sparkpoints. Yesterday I got 25! Oh yes I did. And if you think spinning a wheel to log in is a patronizingly stupid incentive, well so did I. Briefly. And now… it totally works for me!

Ok - so this is going to TOTALLY out me as a “Hogan knows best” watcher - but this post reminds me of the epsiode that Linda (the wife) decides she’s going to drop a few pounds so she enlists the help of that INSANE guru guy. Ha ha ha. She stops just short of getting her colon flushed.
5:41 am
Good for you.
I’ll eat a twinkie FOR you.
5:45 am
Um…at 7 weeks postpartum, I suppose I should be thinking about that whole diet-and-exercise thing. So thanks for posting this. I’ll check out sparkpeople - maybe it will motivate me to get myself in gear!
6:47 am
I’m also going to check it out. I love learning about nutrition etc.
7:37 am
I’ll have to check it out.
7:38 am
What’s this? Nutrition and Holy Mama together in one post? Am I at the right blog? Next think I know you’ll be using butter instead of margarine and olive oil rather than those poly-unsaturates. What’s the world coming to!?!?
7:58 am
All right, count me in. I just went and signed up (and told them you sent me of course). My first big goal is to not drink soda. Sad, but that’s gonna be a tough one - especially at work.
8:03 am
I will have to check it out! I was just saying to my neighbor friends yesterday that I need to really start eating healthier and exercising! Thanks for the motivational tip. And Congrats on your weight loss!!! Keep up the great work!
8:05 am
I keep saying I want to lose weight. . .but then hubby gets all “let’s have another baby” on me so who cares? I will be “curvy” til I produce one more child from my loins. Then we’ll get fit and be perky. Maybe. . .
8:41 am
My husband and I need to eat better for ourselves and to set a good example for our son. I’ll go check this link out. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve posted a WFMW tip as well. Stop by and take a peek!
9:15 am
I found this site a few weeks ago. A friend told me about it. *wink, wink*.
I’m not using it like I should be or could be… but I am getting there!
9:51 am
I became a member about 3 months ago and the thing that I enjoy is the exercise suggestions. It’s neat to see the other things you can do when working out. It adds some variety to the activity.
I never really got into the points, but it definitely is an encourager to keep going.
Great tip, Kelsey!
10:33 am
I signed up then life got crazy!! I am glad it is working out for you!
10:33 am
Oh.my.word. I was rejected. They denied me.
It’s ‘cuz I’m pregnant they say. So I’m headed over to babyfit.com, their sister site, to see what I think. Thanks for the site link!!
11:08 am
Momrn2 signed up and has told me about it. Haven’t got around to it yet but now I guess it’s confirmation and I better get over there!
11:15 am
Thanks, Kelsey. I just checked it out & joined. I made it my home page so I’ll see it whenever I log on. Maybe that will motivate me to get up and exercise instead of sitting in front of the computer with a cup of coffe for an hour.
Maybe not.
9:51 pm
Never heard of sparkpeople — thanks for the tip. Congrats on your weight loss. Mine is going nowhere, though I’ve finally discovered GNC chocolate protein shakes taste awesome when frozen. It’s like ice cream, only it has tons of protein and almost zero sugar. Hopefully, I’m on the road to recovery from being a sugar junkie. Until next month —
10:26 pm
Love the sparkpeople site, Thanks Kelsey:)
11:11 pm
It’s terrific. Thanks for the heads up!
I have lost 40 lbs since Jan. & am @ the point where I need to change things up .. I think this might work.
I have been reading The South Beach Diet & it just isn’t working for me ..
Thanks again! I will keep you up to date.
and yes, I did mention Holymama :o)
7:27 am
Ooh I just started sparkpeople about a week ago. I love it! It’s easy, it’s motivating, and it’s fun to get those points!
7:38 am
A friend of mine mentioned this in passing, but I hadn’t checked it out yet. Thanks for sharing! It looks great.
8:19 am
I forgot to say that I did mention you too, how do these points work exactly??
9:25 am
Just curious… where did all your comments from yesterday go?? I was here last night and well, you had a lot more than 7! Just thought I’d be nosey…
10:43 am
Went, checked it out, signed up and told them who sent me!! Thanks HM!!
9:50 pm
Yeah. That comment gobbler eating up your comments is kinda weird. I had to come back and tell you I joined Sparkpeople too and of course told them holymama sent me. Do you get a free prize for that? I haven’t explored everything yet — but I do know how many calories I can eat per day if I want to lose 1 pound a week. ha! Seems easy, but it’s SOOO hard! :0
9:53 pm
Hey, now it looks like all your comments are back! Did I do that?
7:21 pm
i just signed up for sparklepeople, based on your recommendation. i’m looking forward to starting this program.
Thanks for the link!!!
mck.
11:19 pm
