Works For Me Wednesday

Wfmwheader_copy3_1_1

Joining in with Shannon!

This particular topic has come up two whole times in the last few weeks, so I thought I’d address it.  Ladies, if you want flowers, BUY THEM YOUR OWN DARN SELF.

Do not leave hints,

(men don’t ‘get’ hints, fyi)

sigh,

pray,

fervently hope that someone else will do it for you.

Do you want flowers or do you want to be a big pain in the neck?

If it’s flowers you want, put them in your cart and MOVE ON to the pasta aisle. Really. It’s that simple. It’s AS EASY as buying milk, and WAY easier than buying tampons with curious kids around. So just do it. Ta da! Works for me.

Also, you can even have them delivered to yourself. I’ve done the supermarket style lots of times, and had them delivered a few times. Mike also is a flower giver. ALL OF THESE APPROACHES YIELD PRETTY FLOWERS IN MY HOME. Yea! It’ll work for you too!

Am I crabby sounding? It’s my nonexistent weight loss. Sorry.

I couldn’t agree more! Our poor guys, we have all these unspoken expectations, we hope they’ll figure out, and when they don’t, we’re mad! Go figure!

Blessings.

I am in total and complete agreement! You want it, you get it! It’s no fun if it not a spontaneous thing from your Love’s side anyway.

Was payday ’round these parts yesterday, think I may treat myself to a nice bunch of flowers on our next shopping trip! :)

I’m with you. While my husband is good to buy me flowers occasionally I’ve finally figured out that it’s okay to buy them for myself! BUT I am going to ask for flowers for my birthday this year – delivered to work where I can enjoy them ALL DAY LONG!

Well, now. There’s good idea. I gaze longingly at the grocery-store-flowers everytime I go shopping, but it never really occurred to me to buy them just because I want them. I’ll buy them for a friend who’s sick or for my house when a potential buyer is coming to see it, but never just for me!

I think I like the way you think.

I do this too. I love “WAY easier than buying tampons with curious kids around.” So true.

I buy me flowers all the time! I’m tempted each time I go to the store. If I waited around for my husband to buy them for me….I’d be waiting for a looooong time. He’s sweet and generous in other ways, but notsomuch in the flower department.

My husband is great for special occasions. I always get my favorite, red roses. But I agree–when it comes to ‘every day,’ why do we hesitate to buy ourselves flowers? It’s even more perplexing in my case…my daughter is the manager of a supermarket floral department! I think maybe I’ll get myself some gerbera daisies tomorrow…

*Clap Clap Clap* Well said!!!!!! I never like those unspoken expectations of women! I mean what is that for anyways? Are we stupid helpless creatures who can’t speak our minds or even get things that we want?????Please!!!!
If you want something get it yourself or tell him what you want!!! That’s all men really want anyways, and I like it that way!

Absolutely correct! These are things that should be taught in high school! If you want flowers…buy them, if you want something for your birthday–go out, find it, write the pertainate numbers and identification on a piece of paper (preferably the Jewelers business card) and give it to hubby weeks before your birthday. If you want your hubby to subconciously KNOW what you want…..speak it LOUDLY and OFTEN. They are not mind readers! And when they do hear…..they often have not acquired the listening skills necessary to get the point plain and simple!

Yes, pick your own flowers! Brilliant!

And they’re really not that expensive at the grocery store, are they?

I’ve always held women who buy themselves (or their homes) flowers in high esteem; it gives them a kind of mystique, almost makes them look thinner …

Took me years to figure out it is okay to buy yourself flowers if you like them!! Funny way to put it, Holymama! :)

Well, i just may have to do that. It beats waiting around for clueless hubby to go buy me some. ;-)

I am so with you on that one! I’m a sucker for the bin of carnations at the check out isle!

GOod for you that you would go out there and get yourself something to enjoy. I need to try that. I guess what most women want more than flowers is attention from their man. Flower are just a good way to show it.

Amen. Of course getting the flowers is just part of my problem. I put them out in a pretty arrangement in my kitchen. Every morning when I come down (after hubby has departed for work). They are gone. I have to go and get them out of the laundry room where they have been banished by allergy-ridden hubby. :-)

I LOVE stopping by one of the local farms and picking up a bunch of flowers. I throw ‘em in water and sit ‘em by the front door. That way I can see them everytime I come in–which is often since I’m the family taxi driver :-)

My husband, to his credit, sometimes does bring me flowers ‘out of the blue’, so I guess I’m spoiled — by both of us!

I can absolutely count on flowers on my anniversary. But I like flowers a heck of a lot more than once a year. I figure the cost of grocery store bouquets into my FOOD budget. Food for my soul. Works for me, too.

My husband isn’t good – AT ALL – with gifts. So I, without guilt, buy flowers when I want flowers .. special trinkets (within reason) when I want trinkets .. it is just the way it is!
