Glamorous Accomplishments of a SAHM

Today, I…

managed to photograph Duke the dog on the treadmill. very blurry. will post soon but camera is in other room and my feet are cold.

photographed purse. decided the beautiful silk striped lining within is more like ‘handbag lingerie’ than lining.

stop one child from using my scarf as a Tarzan vine (entwined in blades of ceiling fan). used my excellent Mom Timing, walking in just before the leap from the bed.

untangle scarf from fan. which was still ON, although not moving due to entanglement.

realize later child was indeed being Tarzan, as i’d somehow failed to notice that he was oddly only wearing underwear.

give excellent speech on ‘the examples one must set for younger brothers’ (good vs. not so good, and how it is a GOD GIVEN, ORDAINED-FROM-ON-HIGH KINDA RESPONSIBILITY WHEN THE ALMIGHTY HIMSELF DECIDED YOU’D BE THE OLDER ONE. Spoken like the ‘youngest’ that I am, I know. Whatever. It made me feel better, and I don’t think it did TarzanBoy any harm.)

teach duke the dog how to walk up and down stairs. took 45 minutes, and much sweat. we are both tired. (he better remember what he learned tomorrow.)

pile clean laundry on top of the breakfast table so very high that the peak of Laundry Moutain reaches the light fixture. (need to photograph, it’s a sight to behold.)

found time to read Split Ends by Kristin Billerbeck. Loooove her!

look for Ethan-6yr’s lost report card for an hour, to no avail.

changed too many poo diapers for one day. really. no drama there. WHAT caused all the excess poo today?! (consider that rhetorical.)

clean wedding ring, gave doses of medicine, cleaned up one hairball, ignored another one behind a door where no one will step in it anyway, remembered to charge cell phone, unpack from trip, feed people, bathe people, feed animals, do lots of crunches and not a lotta pushups, haul trash, snuggle kids, take temperatures, remember to drink water instead of diet coke, not overeat, phone conference about Kim-12yr and plead my case with someone about installing street lights in my neighborhood. I sat in dog drool, because duke decided to take up toilet drinking, and my commentary on American Idol was astute. One contestant wore an unflattering belt the same color as her pants that gave the appearance of seriously high waisted-ness, one contestant had on the completely wrong lipstick, and still another misstepped into facial hair. (I can’t sing, can you tell?)

This was my day.

Funny, but I really, really LOVE my life!   Here’s to all of you out there doing the same kinda things. You rock.

Update: Just found out a friend is in labor. How exciting in a sooooo-glad-it’s-not-me kinda way!

Love the handbag lingerie.

And the Tarzan thing–could be worse. When my uncle was a kid they liked to play Gunsmoke. His mom looked out the window one day just in time to see him with a noose around his neck. She ran out and stopped it just before they kicked the trash can out from underneath him. Of course they thought he wouldn’t really die, because they were just playing.

I also lost a report card last quarter for WEEKS! It was in my car–had slipped down next to the center console when we took it to show Grandma. Is that possible in your case? Good luck! We’ve lost a pair of brand new, never-been-worn baseball pants!! GRRRR!

Yep, that last part (clean wedding ring, etc.) sounds just about like my day! I am always grateful when I get through a day without finishing all of the leftover food on my childrens plates … that is the mark of a good day! :)

Never a dull day around the “super kids” house. Give Tarzan a hug for me.

So proud of you for doing the crunches, the water, and everything else with such a servant’s heart of love for your family. What an inspiration!

So refreshing to read about other moms who LOVE their lives even on the days when they sit in dog drool and have to change more than the usual number of poopy diapers.
