It’s the 17th. The date each month where women the globe over do SELF BREAST EXAMS and then leave a blog comment here saying so. Isn’t life good?
Here is what you do. Do that monthly breast exam. Now. Go.
Good. Then leave a comment on THIS post right here saying that you did.
You will feel better for having done your exam, AND you will be eligible for a fantastic prize which I have yet to purchase because I"m just that kind of unorganized. AND! You get full benefits of Club 17 membership.
Full benefits of club membership include but are not limited to the following:
cool blog button! look to the left and see the cutie in the crown! that’s yours after you participate any 6 times. After participating ONLY ONCE, you are eligible for the Not Yet Crowned Cutie. All details found HERE.
Also, the very best comments come on these Club 17 posts. Readers update other readers on their health, their prayers, their stories. Readers ask others to pray or spread the word about things. IT’s very chatty. It’s always my favorite comment section, so don’t miss it.
Friends and relatives who refuse to comment even on these important posts: email me that you did it, please. i will then assign you a quirky pseudonym for this purpose, post a comment for you saying that you did your BSE and then you will also be eligible for the not yet purchased but altogether lovely prize. So… email me THAT YOU DID IT, and then I’ll name you and enter you and you will be a real live Club 17er.
That offer also stands for my dear lurkers. I adore you, you anonymous and shy readers. You, too, can email me and request that i post a comment on your behalf with a catchy name. For you, anything. But since you don’t comment, I really don’t know you well enough to give you a name. When you email me, you might give me a hint as to your hobbies or something like that. (it might take me a few days to get back to you. be patient, dear lurker, and do not think that i’ve rejected you. i’m just out of town briefly and may or may not have access.)
No matter. Anything for the breast health of the blogosphere, that’s what I’m always sayin’.
No not really! That would be weird.
(autoposting. carry on in comments without me and i’ll be back soon.)

I did mine and I’ve got your blog button on my blog to remind everyone who reads my blog. This is important so let’s hope everyone joins us.
7:08 am
Happy 17th to y’all
Kelsey, it’s 1:20 a.m. here on Kauai–the crowing Kauai roosters woke me up*, and I have now completed my BSE for May.
Thanks for reminding us every month to take the time to keep abreast of our health.
With Love and Aloha
Auntie Fran
*On Sept. 11, 1991, Hurricane Iniki devastated the entire insland of Kauai. Thousands of fighting roosters and commercial egg laying chickens were suddenly all free range birds, and now their many descendants grudgeingly share their island with us. In fact, there are so many of them that they are now a tourist attraction!
If you get up in the middle of the night to the bathroom and turn on a light, the roosters closest to you will spread the news to the next ones down the hill until all the sentries have been alerted. After awhile, you just learn to navigate around without turning on the lights—as we did for 9 long weeks after the storm when we did have any electricity. But that’s another story….

I did mine last night. Imagine–I’m actually starting to remember on my own!
9:17 am
My mom is a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed one year ago & recieved a lumpectomy and radiation.
I did my exam this morning. All clear!
9:45 am
i did my BSE for may as well. my mom was diagnosed with beast cancer at the young age of 39. she is a survivor!!
i just started reading your blog over the last few weeks, and this is the first time i have seen a post about self exams. way to go for encouraging awareness for breast cancer and early detection.

My breasts are lumpfree, but I had to do it myself because I told Mr. Right that if he laid a hand on me, he’s liable to pull back a stump. I hate it having tender breasts! And yes, everything is well with our marriage, if you discount the PMS symptoms that is…
10:15 am
Happily lump free here…
11:58 am
Lumpless!
12:52 pm
DONE! And on the right day this time and everything! That’s three now…I’m half-way to my crown! I’m going to HAVE to get my hair cut and highlighted in preparation for my new adornment, don’t you think?
2:07 pm
Did mine, and all is well. I’m even on time for once. Wouldn’t it be great if I actually won that ever-elusive, yet-to-be-purchased prize - since i actually have a chance for once. I can hope.

Well, lump is still there, i waited for my doctor to check it for me today. I now have an appointment with the surgeon to look into having it removed. We are still leaning towards a cyst. I am not sure when my nect appt is, but hopefully soon.
I think this is number 4? only 2 more for a crown!!!
11:15 pm
I got the all clear again this month! Whew. Thanks again for your wonderful reminder that I have a button on my blog to remind ladies too!
Hugs,
Suzi

Great idea! No lumps! (Well, a little engorged, thank you very much. But that’s my self-weaning baby’s contribution.)
10:10 am

3:57 pm
HolyMama, been gone awhile…ran across you again when going through some old posts of my own. Just wanted to thank you again some almost one year later. You may not remember me, but I found a lump last summer, you prayed with me through it. It did end up being benign. I wanted to let you know that it actually went away on its own! PRAISE GOD!! DIDN’T YOU REMIND ME HE’S GOOD? Have a good one!
