No way! Who did they do the survey? Geesh. I think the only phone in our house that has the ringer on is in our study. Besides I only answer the phone if I know the number. If not for the need to call int'l, we don't even need our land line.

Oh this happens to us all the time and no, I don't answer it, but I admit I usually stop in my mind and think "I wonder who that is". So I'm sort of guilty I think.

okay, I have to chime in here. I wouldn't answer the phone...maybe even proposely leave the phone in the other room where I wouldn't hear it...but I have to confess, IF I heard the phone and it was kinda late, just hearing it would definately put a damper on my fire...I know I could go check caller ID in 5 minutes...but that call probably added another 15 minutes to "undampening" the fire (not that I am complaining about that...) In summary...NO, I wouldn't answer the phone, but a phone ringing and heard by me could cause delayed and dampened reactions.

I believe the percentages. In my view as a guy, most women view the phone as a relationship tool, and relationships easily trump sex in importance for many women. It's been said, "Men sexualize intimacy, women intimize sexuality," and on the average that's probably true; moreso as the feminization of the society continues. So, in the mind of those 65-or-whatever percent of women, their guy is just expected to learn that she isn't going to "ignore a friend" (a relationship) for sex. Sex, you see, can be picked up later... the phone (relationship! relationship!) is ringing NOW so it's gotta be answered.

Why would anyone answer the phone at THAT time?

When I had hampsters, I watched them mate because the male had to be removed from her cage quickly after "sex" or she would mortally wound him. During the whole process, she would eat...perhaps these 65% are thinking about food?!

Interesting side note...I read the other day that all animals (I am not putting people in this category) mate to create...except dolphins...they not only mate to create, but for pleasure as well...

That's what answering machines are for!!!!!

I say that if you answer the phone during that then something is missing and you are bored!!!! I just get angry instead, for messing up the moment!
I think that is such a lying statistic! Then again.....who knows? maybe I'm the weird one!

Maybe my perspective is warped? I have had 3 babies born into the family in the last 5 weeks (2 of 3 ended up as emergency c-sections). I have a mother inlaw who is often hospitalized. I answer the phone. I am evil. We can finish the sex later. It isn't like I'm going to enjoy it if I'm wondering if someone is hurt, or sick, or in an accident. You really don't answer the phone? Maybe I need more day time sex so that I'll view a phone interruption as something other than a dire emergency.

Gotta run -- think the phone is ringing!

I just can't imagine! What in the world would be that important? Besides, couldn't you just call them back in about three minutes anyway?? :-)
