I, too, love to see our (tiny and dishwasherless) kitchen clean, and I also dislike cooking. I'm particularly lazy about cooking cleanup. So I cook a lot of one-dish meals: chili, pasta e fagioli, jambalaya, etc. But one of my biggest complaints has been that I'm expected to clean up after any meals I cook AND after any meals my husband cooks (which are generally limited to pasta plus sauce from a jar but it's the principle of the thing). So last night, I moved the pan, collander, etc. from the previous night's spaghetti to one side of the double-sided sink and washed only those items that I had dirtied in cooking fagioli and then eating it. After everything was spick and span-- except for the previous night's dirty pans and plates--I left the kitchen. To my astonishment and gratification, hubby went in and cleaned up his own mess. Wow!

Anyway, HM, thanks for the blog. I don't read regularly, but I LOVE when I have time to catch up.

I love it when I make something that sounds good to me and hubby but think that the girls won't touch it and then sit in amazement as they clean their plates. I too make a big mess when I cook, my hubby calls me the chef from the muppets(can't think of his name):)

Hi Kelsey,
Just found you from another blog and have been having fun looking around. Love your blog and cute family and that you write. I read your clean/messy kitchen post. I feel the same way about a clean kitchen. Three boys, huh? Fun, wild, wooly ride!

She writes, she laughs, she cooks! You are now complete. Yay you!

I should send The Girl your direction. EVERY meal is her favorite at our house, no matter who does the cooking. That girl, she makes the mess and energy of creating the meal so worth while. I'm sure she would give you that same sense of appreciation too after a week of hearing, "Thank you so much for cooking for us!"

Thanks for your comment on PPD. I just read them yesterday and was really encouraged. I love it that your boys lifted their shirts to show how full they were. Ah cuteness.

(((Kelsey)))! I knew you could do it! Once you get that big bunch of chicken cooked, there's just so many things you can do with it, and most of them are failry quick, easy, and yummy. As for the rice balls, "sticky" rice made into balls is quite a favorite in many Asian areas. So instead of messy little boys, think of them as young gourmets.

I'm so glad you enjoyed making dinner. And hey, if that's all it takes, next time you cook for me, I'll show you my full tummy too. That's a promise!
