Happy Homecoming

I don’t know what the weather was like where you were this weekend, but in Albuquerque it was GORGEOUS. And today i’m back home and the snow swirls at the window. But it’s pretty.

I should have said it wasn’t a vacation. It was a Visit With Kim-13yr Trip, and that’s never a vacation. Sometimes it goes well, and sometimes it doesn’t, but it’s always stressful on every one of us. The good news is we can take a veiled death threat like no other family I know. We’ve had more practice than most, but still. We make it look easy.

(Yes, of COURSE I realize that’s not a good thing. We’re working on it. Really.)

Anyway. How nice to come home after a trip like that – to a Box of Happiness! Yea! So nice! I’ve never met Seasonal Learner, but she spent a little time in my archives and then filled the box with things that were SOO me. Hershey’s kisses, dark chocolate m&ms, pens, a sweet little notepad for writing notes on the go, a book, a camera and stickers for the boys. Thank you!!! (And your timing couldn’t have been better.)

So glad you’re back!

(long sigh) I’m praying for you guys. I know this whole thing with Kim is enough to make you lose it, but God’s so gracious to dole out the amount of mercy we need, just when we need it. Praying for it to keep raining down on your precious heads!

I’m so sorry that you are going through all this nonsense, but you do it with such grace and humor, I’m sure you are a great help to others in your situation! And isn’t God good…I mean, to create chocolate and all?

Oh, what a blessing indeed! Little surprises make our days, don’t they? Hopefully the time with Kim was better than they had been in the past, even if it was still stressful.

Chocolate… chocolate always makes things seem better.

I have never done the blog thing and am still trying to figure out how all this works. I am a mom of 9 some biological and others adopted that range from 6 to 18. I like the atituded of the moms on this site. My husband and I stumbled on it when we were looking for info on the transformation program. I absolutely LOVE being a mom but the journey sometines is a daily struggle. There has been more trauma to the kids’ young lives than anyone should have to deal with in a lifetime and the baggage that they carry is sometimes more than they can deal with. The result is behavior that is at times off the wall. Although the progress in this journey is remarkable it is by no means all delt with.
We focus on the progress to keep us on the road.

What do you mean, a veiled death threat?

So where did you go on this 13 year old trip? My parents did that for us four kids and I went to Opryland…I still don’t know why. The last thing I was into was country music when I was thirteen. But I had a good time being with my mom and dad. I remember that was when a lot of people had the Dorthy Hamel haircut, so I did and it looked TERRIBLE on me. Yeah, I seriously lacked in the looks department. I wore jeans that gathered at the ankle like sweatpants too. Yeah, I was stylin.
