0h yeah, the Hallelujah diet! My MIL got that when she was recovering from ovarian cancer. She quickly decided that quality of life was more important, and while she has always eaten fairly healthy, prefers a more mainstream way of eating regardless of the fab results. I read through the book and I gotta say I disagree on a few points from a religious standpoint. Not that God said, thou shalt cook thy food, but there are countless incidents of cooked food throughout the Bible, especially meat (which is never at its finest raw!). Second religious point, when God gave Peter that vision about clean and unclean food, the point I got from it is that *everything* that God has given us to eat is good. I think the worry of the diet is more unhealthy than the benefits of raw eating. From a practical point of view, I'd be supah skinny if I ate that way because I'd always forget to prepare and never be able to eat when I was out and about! OTOH, it's a good reminder that we eat a lot of things cooked when we could enjoy them raw. Maybe if I had a professional cook following me around I could do it... Naw, I love me a good medium-rare steak with potato au gratin! And a good cup o' wine!

I think that might be the same diet my friend's mom swore by ... for about a month. I think it would be really hard not to eat anything cooked or anything from an animal. Even when I was a vegetarian I ate eggs and cheese (mmmm, cheeeeese.). I tried going vegan once (and that wasn't even with the raw thing) and I was hungry ALL the time. But then I'm really not the most self-disciplined person I know – especially when it comes to food.

Ultimately, I decided that I would rather eat yummy stuff and be happy than eat boring healthy stuff and live to be 150. The good part is that a lot of healthy stuff is yummy which means I'll probably live past 40, which is definitely a plus. :)

I just finished reading S*kinny B*itch and it sounds really similar to your book.
I haven't completely changed my eating, but I DO need to eat WAY healthier than I do, so I find I'm thinking more about what I put in my body - and I've almost completely cut down my diet pop intake :)

Too funny! My mother in law tried all kind of weird and interesting vegetables when she was trying to self treat her breast cancer. It was so strange to us but she swore by it. Her battle lasted 7 years so you can decide for yourself if it truly worked compared to the other methods.

As for me, I know I need to eat better!

I came across a neat series of videos on YouTube where Karen Knowler (The Raw Food Coach) shows you how to prepare raw foods. It takes a lot of work, which seems counterintuitive, but if someone could guarantee I'd look like her, I just might do the whole raw thing.
