If you are the sort who prays… there’s a 17 yr old girl who really could use all the extra prayers you might have time for. She’s five months pregnant and her baby is having serious fluid-on-brain-type developmental issues. She has a few options - and they all appear rather grim because the prognosis is so poor.

Thank you for praying for Mama A. Baby has only 2 chambers of the heart, cleft palate and club feet. No skull and water on the brain. She is determined to keep the baby if it can be saved but if not is willing to let God determine the outcome. I talked to her today about perinatal hospice and end of life issues. Can you imagine end of life issues for a baby not yet born?

Melissa, I CAN”T imagine. I really can’t. All day I’ve stopped and thought about her and this sweet baby and struggled to even know what to pray or say or ask or think.

Mama A went to the “big city” today to have a consult with other doctors. They are going to go ahead and induce labor and let her basically rock this baby until he passes away. The dr’s think she will miscarry before the nine months and they wanted to give her some time alive with the baby.
