Is it Cheating If It’s Another List? (Guilty)

* I had a  conversation with a spider this morning. Maybe I won’t do things like that when the kids are home in the summer.

* Went to the grocery store and is was blessedly uneventful compared with the last time.

* The weather is gorgeous today.  Bring on the endless baseball practices and games and yardwork. Ready.

* But. There’s been no rain that would help me take out a big truck and act out all my aggressions in a somewhat reckless, muddy fashion.

* Mike has the world’s cutest crush on Jennifer Lopez. He didn’t tell me. I just figured it out because I am SO brilliant.

* It was all the weird giggling and sighing that gave him away.

* Can’t blame him a bit. It cracks me up.

* Johnny Cash coming through the kitchen speakers.

* Love that.

* The Eating Fish Thing continues. Yea! This changes everything. Am not a vegetarian anymore. Progress! Positively sprinting up the food chain again.

* I was SO impatient with children yesterday. 3 boys had 3 tear-filled meltdown for 3 different reasons within 30 minutes. I didn’t let my nerves show until the last 30 minutes before their bedtime.

* Which stinks, because then they probably went to sleep and had bad dreams about me.

* Mike came home and said something nice, and that helped. Me – it helped me. Not the kids. Who probably really did have nightmares about me.

* I’m not running. I should be. Even if I don’t want to be a runner, I feel obligated to know how far I can run. Like how everyone should sort of know how tall they are or what their driver’s license number is… I feel obligated to know.

* The problem with that is I go running and then come up with a # of miles and that’s my answer. And then? I’m fine with that answer for about 7 seconds. And then I think of when I could go run again and increase that number.

* This is the sort of thinking that turns me into a runner, fully against my will and better judgment. I don’t even like running. It’s boring. I’m the only one who ever knows that number. But that number is never high enough.

* Right now I don’t have a #. And I should probably just try to go with that. But even the non-number is uncomfortable, because shouldn’t I have that number filed away in my brain…. just like my driver’s license number? I really should….

* I just ordered really cute running shorts. No idea why I did that.

* Homework. Should be doing homework instead of hanging out here with y’all. Crime is calling.

Hm. I don’t get the number obsession. Could you distract yourself with making an interesting list instead?

A conversation with a spider. That’s so cute, like you sat down to have tea with it or something. Personally the only kind of conversation I’ve ever had with a spider was screaming at it to get out of my house and take all its creepy friends with it.

You have your driver’s license number memorized? Really? Wow. I can hardly remember my SS#.

LaLa,
And I’m not normally a numbers person!

geekwif,
Aw… I like how you visualized that. It was more of a ‘farewell. i’m about to turn on the faucet and wash you down the drain. nothing personal…’ kind of conversation, but i like your version better!

but… don’t you occasionally NEEd to know your dr l #?

jan,
gross. EXACTLY. It WAS like that. But not in a quaint, cute way. more like, get OUTTA my personal space.

First, I’ll be posting a new fish recipe…maybe you can try it too! My 11yo HATES fish and had 3 pieces of it tonight. I’ll call it a win.

Which one is Mike? The 10yo? Last fall my 11yo discovered Taylor Swift and my goodness the cute!

Love your blog! So glad I finally had the chance to get over here and say hi!

Headless Mom,

I’ll be looking for that fish recipe, thanks! i’m making your cauliflower tonight and will be integrating the word ‘pie’ into the title for child marketing purposes. shameless.

Mike is the husband, and the question made me laugh out loud. : ) i’d be less understanding if he had a crush on the gorgeous taylor swift as she is barely legal. (but more power to your 11 yo!)

I have both my ss and dl # memorized, as well as Wick’s ss, but for some reason have not managed to memorize his dl #. I’m always having to fill out forms for both of us, and knowing those #s sure helps.

#1 – I do memorize numbers but it’s totally involuntary. I remember my first checking account number. I remember the second one too. Can’t remember my current one though. Funny. I used to work at a bank, I still remember KFC’s bank account number. Scary. Anyhow, I try not to remember. They say Einstein never memorized anything he could look up. Probably a lie, but hey – if it’s good enough for a lie I will take it.

#2 – I love Johnny Cash too. They were celebrating his birthday on the radio the other day. It was nice.

#3 – Warm weather – WOOHOO! Especially after frozen pipes a few weeks ago which BURST.

#4 – I was impatient with children too. I kept my step-daughter’s kids. She has 6 yo twins (boy and girl), a newly turned 5 boy and an almost 4 girl. Also had my other step-daughter’s son who is newly 4. My son – newly 12 who acts 4. My husband, who acts like a husband. I think I have a few new gray hairs. I am way too young to be getting those and way to old to be dealing with that many kids in that age group. I’ll take teenagers any day. Maybe.

***sigh***
